Wyclef Jean is putting Lauryn Hill’s business on front street in his new memoir. Jean opens up for the first time about the of destruction his relationship with Hill. Even though he was married at the time, Jean still carried on an affair with his fellow band mate and was convinced he was the father of Hill’s first child.
“In that moment something died between us. I was married and Lauryn and I were having an affair, but she led me to believe that the baby was mine, and I couldn’t forgive that,” Jean writes in his book,Purpose.
It was this betrayal, Jean says, that ultimately split up the Fugees, one of the best, if not THE best, hip hop groups of all time.
“She could not longer be my muse,” he wrote. “Our love spell was broken.”
The fact that the Fugees broke up because Lauryn got pregnant and Wyclef got his feelings hurt is ridiculous. And then to write about it and use a very personal time in his and her life to sell books is ridiculous. Any slim chance that the Fugees were going to get together before is completely gone now. We all know Ms. Hill is very private about her business…
