Supreme Reaction and staff had a chance to sit down and talk with Andre 4K about his directing skills and being able to come up with music video concepts. He gives us a tell all on what he uses and what music videos has inspired him to do his new video. Find out what Andre 4K was listening to before he came up with concepts and how many hours he put in to be one of the best.

So, Andre 4K the music video for “Heroes” . Who came up with the concepts and what kind of feel were you trying to connect with your audience?

Andre4K: I pretty much came up with majority of the concepts. Cahlaj told me he wanted to see a little kid with a towel around his neck and a view of downtown in the background when he spits. When I was interning with Crooks and Castle I remember passing by the brick wall with streets art when we was running errands as interns. I did find a friend with a skyscrapers by the window but we ended up cutting it out because of bad footage. I decided to shoot the scene at our old high school Saint Bernard, through some shots of green screen and animate some photos since we were under budget and to give it some flare. While coming up with ideas I listened to Marvin Gaye “Whats Going On” album. It really cleared my head and inspired me to do the grind harder to make a social conscious video.

What separates you from other music video directors?

Andre4k: As a director I have no equipment. (Laughing Out Loud). Just a camera, green screen and editing software. No special tungsten lights, no steady camera. Someone once told me my advantage was doing Motion Graphic Animation.

What was the hardest part about putting this Music Video”Heroes” together?

Andre4K: I’ll say coming up with concepts,people not answering there phone, niggas who don’t want to help when they have so much equipment at there house that they don’t use and finding extras.

What Music Video Old or New you wished you had directed?

Andre4K: Neptunes “Light Your Ass On Fire” dope fucking song, but the video is a piece of shit. I wish I could make “Niggas In Paris” with niggas actually in Paris.

Name Some Artist you would love to do a music video with and direct?

Andre4K: For now mostly L.A. artist.  Such as Dom Kennedy, Tyler the Creator, Pac Div, and Tiron. Besides L.A. I really want to work with Curren$y, The Weekend,Kanye West, Big Sean, Frank Ocean, and Miguel.
