Andre 3000 No Longer Slated To Play Jimi Hendrix In Biopic

Man I really wanted to see how Andre 3000 would do playing Jimi Hendrix. I thought he would of been good in playing him.  I guess now he can just focus on his music and any other movies he is going to be in. What I really want to see and other people want to see is a new Outkast album. I don’t count the last one as an album because it was written for a soundtrack. Andre 3000 was originally tapped to play Jimi Hendrix in a biopic last year, but it’s been silent on the news front since. But according to actress Hayley Atwell, the Outkast member is still slated to be in the flick.

Speaking with Esquire, the Captain America star explained that Three Stacks is signed on to appear as Hendrix in the independent flick. “Next up is possibly a Jimi Hendrix biopic — an independent film with Andre 3000 from OutKast playing Jimi Hendrix. But I don’t know, really. The Atwell team is like, Let’s just wait and see,” she said.

Andre previously appeared in the 2008 flick Semi-Pro, though has relatively quiet since then. He is supposedly working on a solo album to be released this year in anticipation of an Outkast LP to drop in 2012.

Hayley Atwell, an up-and-coming actress that stars in the new Captain America flick, gave fans of the two musicians hope that the story may soon hit the big screen. In an interview with Esquire Magazine she said that she is in talks about doing the independent movie, and the OutKast rapper was still set as to play Hendrix.

Andre, who has notoriously been out of the spotlight for the last few years, hasn’t been seen onscreen since 2008’s Will Ferrell comedy, Semi-Pro.
