A Slave To Fashion: Adidas Cancels the “Shackle Shoe”
Due to a widespread of comments on social media that claimed they symbolized enslavement, last night Adidas finalized the cancellation of the JS Roundhouse Mid, a high top purple sneaker with orange shackle-like ankle cuffs made in collaboration with over the top fashion designer Jeremy Scott (picture to left). 
Although the market release for the notorious shoe was suppose to be in August, Adidas prematurely debuted the shoe about 5 days ago on Facebook alongside this rhetorical question: “Got a sneaker game so hot you lock your kicks to your ankles?”
Hours later, after getting over a thousand comments with negative feedback including a blog post by the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the shoe company pulled the design.
Still, according to Associate Press, Adidas defended Scott, who has the reputation for getting his inspiration from cartoon characters, by saying his actions weren’t malicious but rather another attempt to be outrageous and different.
Adidas and Scott explained the sneaker was homage to the classic high-top sneaker with a strap across the middle and, even further, reminiscent of My Pet Monster, a plush doll created by American Greetings in 1986.
So was this an image of slavery and racism or just poor taste in fashion?
Way Out Of Line: New York Post Writer Phil Mushnick Suggests ‘Brooklyn Nets’ Be Named ‘New York N*ggers’ Because Of Jay-Z Affiliation
New York Post writer takes it too far with his racist comment. Phil Mushnick attacked Jay-Z in his “Equal Time Column”.
Jay-Z is a minority owner of the New Jersey Nets, who will become the Brooklyn Nets in 2013 when they leave Jersey for the brand new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
In the article Mushnick uses racist and misogynistic language to describe Jay-Z and the team.
“As long as the Nets are allowing Jay-Z to call their marketing shots — what a shock that he chose black and white as the new team colors to stress, as the Nets explained, their new “urban” home — why not have him apply the full Jay-Z treatment?” Mushnick wrote. “Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N——s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B—-hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!”
Zimmerman Released On Bond
George Zimmerman the neighborhood watch guy who is on trial for murder has been released on bond. His bond was set at 150,000 dollars but he just has to pay 10 percent of that. Looks like Zimmerman family came up with the money of 15,000 dollars. He is on trial for second degree murder and could face up to a life sentence. We will see how this will play out. Zimmerman’s lawyer says that Zimmerman is concerned about his safety too.

Zimmerman To Be Charged In Trayvon Martin Case
Thank God this is happening. All we wanted was Zimmerman to have a trial. That is all we were asking for. I believe we were not asking for a lot.
George Zimmerman “will be (criminally) charged if (he) hasn’t been charged already,” according to a senior law enforcement source familiar with the Trayvon Martin death investigation.
It’s not clear what the charges would be.

What went down on February 26, 2012 has to be pure disgust and racist. Trayvon Martin was killed in Sanford, Florida. A man by the name of George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin because he was an African-American in his neighborhood. The Florida Police responded to the shooting and George Zimmerman told police that he shot Trayvon Martin because he was so-called “defending himself”. The police let him go and did no investigation on the case.
Every time I hear about this story it just makes me sick. A black man can’t even walk down the street to get skittles and a drink without being harassed. The killer George Zimmerman is nothing but a racist. Their was not one bad bone in Trayvon Martin’s body. Trayvon was doing nothing wrong and George Zimmerman had no reason to even approach Trayvon. George Zimmerman coming up to Trayvon and asking him “What are you doing here”. It is none of George Zimmerman’s business. The Florida Police also did a horrible job on this case. They took George Zimmerman’s word over all the evidence and the witnesses. This just proves that America can care less about black people.
I really felt that America had made strides on racism but this one just makes me realize even more that we still have racism out in the world. Sometimes the way stuff goes down and just lets me know that we are still living in the 1950s and 1960s. As much this is making headline news George Zimmerman is still sitting on his couch in a different country eating candy, and laughing on how easy it was to kill a black person in America. I really feel that America still has a lot of soul-searching to do. We will see what the federal and state police will do.

Papa John’s Apologizes For Receipt’s Racial Slur
Well, this is just interesting. So, I guess on the Customers Receipt the Cashier was calling herself “lady chinky eyes”. The Cashier that was working at Papa John’s was doing this for a while until Minhee Cho was a customer at Papa John’s and was very offended by this. Minhee Cho a manager at a non-profit investigative journalism group tweeted out “by the way my name isn’t lady chinky eyes”.
The cashier that was working at Papa Johns has been fired and Papa Johns issued a statement about the situation too.
“This act goes against our company values, and we’ve confirmed with the franchisee that this matter was addressed immediately and that the employee is being terminated,” the pizza company said. “We are truly sorry for this customer’s experience.”
