Katt Williams has decided to hang up the mic after several months of odd behavior that culminated in his arrest in Seattle on Sunday for investigation of harassment, assault and obstructing police.
Katt spoke to TV station KOMO 4 and said the events of the past few days in Seattle convinced him to retire. Katt added that we was going to place an offer of $301,000 for the Washington State Ferry Rhododendron as a place to stay with his family and staff until his Thursday court date. The comedian says the city of Seattle has ruined his reputation and he plans to sue.
“If they will accept our bid… I will take me and my whole staff on that boat because I still have a court date four days from now and can’t leave and I’ve been kicked out of four hotels in two days and I’ve been arrested by three different sets of officers four different times detained by two sets of officers,” he said. “I can stay there [on the ferry] and my family can be there and my dogs can be there and my whole staff can be there until we get done suing Seattle for this $50 million that I want for crippling my reputation as a father and a black man and as a taxpaying citizen and as a person who is not a convicted felon.”
Katt’s troubles in Seattle started last Thursday when he missed a show at The Paramount Theatre after his Hummer ran out of gas. He reportedly slashed the tires on the vehicle and rammed it with another car. On Friday he was accused by three fans of attacking them after a show when they tried to take a photo with him, but Katt claimed the fans forced their way into his dressing room.
On Sunday Katt got into trouble at the World Sports Grille when he threatened people with a pool cue and refused to leave. He then allegedly followed a family to their car and flicked a lit cigarette through the car window, which hit a woman just below her eye. Police say he also threw a rock at the car.
He was arrested for the incident at World Sports Grille and later bailed out by his road manager Suge Knight.
Katt told Komo 4 that the recent events were enough to force him to retire.
“This was a place I like to bring my kids and let them do stuff without people caring who they were,” he said. “I got arrested in front my kids three times in my three days stay in Seattle… And all we were doing was coming into town to sell jokes and police department painted me as some sort of public menace that came to town. I’m just gonna go ahead and announce my retirement from standup, I’m kinda done. I’ve discussed it with my kids, I wasn’t gonna do it in the middle of a Seattle street, I was going to go to Los Angeles and do it in the offices of ICM or LiveNation.“

In a case that is being compared to the Trayvon Martin killing, 17-year old Jordan Davis was shot to death on Friday at a Jacksonville gas station after he and several friends got into an argument with 45-year old Michael Dunn.
Michael Dunn
Dunn had pulled into the gas station with his girlfriend. While she was inside the station he got into a heated argument with a group of black teens in an SUV after he asked them to turn down their music.
Dunn claims he saw a gun in the SUV and felt threatened. He opened fire on the vehicle letting off eight shots, two of which struck and killed Davis.
Dunn, who is white is represented by attorney Robin Lemonidis. She told CNN that her client may seek protection under the state’s controversial Stand Your Ground Law.
“Self defense applies because Mr. Dunn was threatened,” Lemonidis said. “We can’t say what the defense will be at this stage … but Stand Your Ground is a possibility.“
There were no guns found inside the teens’ car, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
Ron Davis, the victim’s father, is devastated. He said there was no justifiable reason for Davis to shoot at the SUV his son was riding in.
“He did something that there was no defense for,” the father said of the suspect.
Ron added that his son was a good kid with no gang affiliation. He said the teens initially thought the gun Dunn pulled out was fake. When they realized it wasn’t they tried to back up their vehicle before being caught in the gunfire.
Lemonidis says the four teens in the SUV were threatening to kill her client.
“Kill that motherf*cker. That motherf*cker’s dead. You dead b*tch,” are some of the threats that were shouted at Dunn according to Lemonidis. “And he sees a shotgun coming over the rim of the SUV, which is higher than his Jetta. All he sees are heavily tinted front windows that are up and the back windows that are down. And the car has at least four black men in it. And he doesn’t know how old anybody is. He doesn’t know anything, but he knows a shotgun when he sees one.”
Lemomidis says any comparisons to the Trayvon Martin case are preposterous.
“That’s ridiculous. Michael is not a vigilante,” the attorney said. “He’s a brilliant software developer. It was never his intention to kill anyone. There are no comparisons to the Trayvon Martin situation. [Dunn] is devastated and horrified by the death of the teen.“
Dunn was arrested at his home on Saturday and charged with murder and attempted murder. He remains in jail after being denied bond on Monday.
What do you make of this case? Is it similar to what happened to Trayvon Martin?
Aerosmith singer and former American Idol judge Steven Tyler has angered Nicki Minaj with comments he made to MTV about her.
Tyler was asked if it was difficult to be a judge on the talent show. While giving his answer Tyler was critical of Minaj’s judging skills.
“You just have to give your opinion. It wasn’t hard for me, but I would imagine it’s hard for some people, and they need a manager to say ‘Shut the f*ck up, and just give them your opinion,’ ” Tyler said. ”These kids, they just got out of a car from the Midwest somewhere and they’re in New York City, they’re scared to death; you’re not going to get the best [out of them]. … If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with Phillip Phillips. Just saying.”
Minaj quickly responded to the criticism by heading to her Twitter account to vent to her 15 million followers.
“Steven Tyler said I would have sent Bob Dylan to a cornfield??? Steven, you haven’t seen me judge one single solitary contestant yet,” Minaj wrote, before accusing Tyler of being racist. “I understand you really wanted to keep your job but take that up with the producers. I haven’t done anything to you. That’s a racist comment. You assume that I wouldn’t have liked Bob Dylan??? why? black? rapper? what? go f*ck yourself and worry about yourself babe.“
Minaj was far from done. Egged on by her “barbz” she continued her diatribe. She also managed to throw in a dig at Mariah Carey.
“When Steven 1st went on Idol he was ridiculed by his peers & fans alike. Called a sell out. So what does he do? Ridicule the next judge,” Nicki continued.
Comedic writer Jenny Johnson is looking over her shoulders this morning after her argument with Chris Brown on Sunday led him to delete his Twitter account.
Johnson has been a constant thorn in Chris’ side ever since he assaulted then girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. She and Chris also exchanged words back in September 2011.
Johnson wrote: “Taking relationship advice from single people is like taking not-beating-the-sh*t-out-of-women advice from Chris Brown.” That prompted a response from Chris.
This morning Brown’s legion of fans are in full attack mode sending death threats Johnson’s way. She seemed worried about it when she sent out her last Tweet.
